Couple Counsellor DIP My career started in the 70’s working with children , parents and families in Social Work, and progressed in to work in the Court arena with both offenders and separating families in conflict. In 2002 I started working for Relate and trained as a Relationship Counsellor and Psychosexual Therapist. I have been running a private practice since 2007 and now work exclusively in that practice in West Dorset , Devon and Somerset. Clients come from a wide geographical area including Bridport, Dorchester, Weymouth , Yeovil, Sherborne Shaftesbury and many of the surrounding villages .
My approach is eclectic with a leaning towards Behaviourism which is about behaviour change. I also use Solution Focussed work and Brief Therapy techniques. These approaches enable clients to learn new skills of interaction with their partner and family and it is a very effective way to improve communication and understanding. I aim to offer clients a very sensitive supportive approach focussing on self determination and the opportunity for personal growth.
